Lovely City Delft
Delft
One shy city which is so pretty and lovable. It hides its own beauty to the world and tourists, too shy to show of. Fortunately, We decided to visit this city as well during our visit to Netherlands, and we really glad about our decision.
Its location is between The Hague and Rotterdam, you can make a straight line route trip start from the harbor city “The Hague” to the lovely canal city “Delft” and then continue to the modern city “Rotterdam”.
Actually, I love all of the Europe cities which I’ve visited during my Europe trip. It is hard to make a choice which city is better or which city is more beautiful. Each city has its own charm. When I visited Amsterdam, I said to my (back then) fiancée how beautiful Amsterdam is, I choose this one as the best, etc. And then at the moment we arrived to Belgium, or even Luxembourg, that opinion changed. So my opinion of the best city only lasted during my stay in each visited cities. That's explained how beautiful every single city and villages in Europe are.
Delft Station
We read a little bit about Delft before, It is written that this city used to be the leading city of Dutch against Spanish occupation of country. Hmm, Deutch VS Spanish. Quite an interesting coincidence, because Indonesia (my home country) was one of Dutch colonial country back then. Deutch colonized my country for more than 300years. And then one day, suddenly Spain came and tried to take over my country from Deutch. They did some war until Deutch succed to banish Spain out of country, well IMO I don't think it has any different whichever side win. We didn't like being colonized by other countries. I quite learnt a lot about Deucth history when I was a student, from VOC until how this country built and destroyed Indonesia at the same time. Well, 300 years isn't a short frame time, so if you visit Netherlands, you will easily see and find so many Indonesia restaurants, Indonesian food, Indonesian people, etc there. Even some of Netherlands people able to speak Indonesian language. Lets take a look my travel path in Delft.
House of Orange
This was the house of William of Orange (aka William the Silent). He was the leader of the "Eighty years war" with Spain. Woahhhh, what a long duration of war, seems this country loved war and colonialism back then 😜

Lovely Canal City
It felt so peaceful when we spent our time just sit beside the canals, enjoyed our cheese cake and chit chating.
Beautiful Canal Houses
Strolling around the city. This city is quite small. Spent a half day here is enough. It seemed the local residents know each others here. What a lovely (village) city.
Not so many tourists can be found in Delft, tourists prefer to visit Amsterdam than this city. Well, thats why how lovable Delft is. You don't need to bump into crowds.

Look how big the cheeses are. How to eat them?
I will not review my recommendation places to visit in Delft. This city is just too small to even make a list about it, just stroll around the city and explore every single corner of it. if you happen to visit Delft in near future, no need to worry about itinerary. Without map, without lonely planet and without any preparation, walk around follow your intuition and be surprised for every shy beauty hidden inside the city.
